There are different types of collagen, the difference being in the source of the collagen and the way it is extracted from the source. Collagen can be extracted from various natural sources such as fish, animals and plants.
- Fish collagen: Fish collagen is the purest form of collagen. Its structure is similar to that of human skin.
- Bovine collagen: Bovine collagen has almost the same properties. With bovine collagen, the collagen is often extracted from the skin or bones of cattle.
- Pig collagen: Collagen can also be obtained from the skin and bones of pigs.
- Plant collagen: In addition to animal collagen, there is also plant collagen. However, plant collagen differs most from human collagen.
There is also a difference in the way collagen is extracted from the source. This can be done in two different ways, which is why you get two types of collagen: native collagen and hydrolysed collagen.
